Planning a trip to Bali and need some tips on things to do and where to go? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!
Expect to find mind-blowing landscapes, fairy-tale waterfalls, mystic forests, endless rice fields and volcanic mountains. This island is what we call heaven on earth! Whether you are going on a romantic getaway or just looking for an exciting trip with your friends, Bali is definitely the place to be!
The Rich Variety of Wildlife
You will likely find lovely creatures and some terrifying ones (just kidding, it’s not like in Stranger Things).
It’s pretty common to cross suicidal cocks when you are driving around little villages. Pay attention, they will run to the street and jump right in front of your motorbike. Try not to run over them and try not to die as you drift away! It’s also frequent to find street dogs but stay cool, they’re even nicer than the people (and you will see that Balinese are the most kind people in the world!)
When wandering in the tropical forests just enjoy the lovely bird songs and be careful with the monkeys, never trust that little bastards!
Balinese wild life begins high above the ground but it extends to the bottom of the ocean. If you are an aquaholic go swim with turtles or giant mant rays in some of the diving spots around the island.
The Magic Waterfalls
Who doesn’t like chasing waterfalls? Well… Bali is home to so many amazing ones that you don’t have to worry about finding them, they will find you. Of course if you want to have them just for you and avoid the crowds you will have to do more research and maybe head to the north of the island. Always try to arrive early in the morning to the most turisty ones. If you don’t do this, prepare to queue for trying to take a picture without someone photo bombing it.
The mystic temples
The beauty behind the Balinese temples is that it’s possible to find them in some unusual locations, from the top of cliffs to the seashores! Make sure you don’t miss Uluwatu Temple, Pura Tirta Empul or Ulun Danu Beratan Temple (below on the pic). Whether you visit them with worship purposes or just to feed your curiosity always remember to respect the dress code.
The Stunning beaches
To be honest we wouldn’t recommend Bali if you dream about paradisiac beaches. Of course there are some beautiful beaches there, but you need to know where to find the good ones. We were kind of disappointed to find small beaches with lots of trash and some of them a little bit overcrowded. To avoid this and if you are looking for white sand and clear water we advise you to choose Nusa Dua, Jimbaran or Bingin Beach.
The awesome swings
The struggle of being stuck between childhood and adulthood is that it will be impossible to resist such cools swings as the ones they have all over the island.
Let’s admit it, it’s epic instagram material! You just have to choose if you prefer to ride on a top of a cliff or to enjoy the ocean breeze in your face at the beach (or why not both?). Search for the swings around Munduk Moding Plantation, the Bali Chocolate Factory, The Bali Swing or at Zen Hideaway. If you rather prefer an overwater swing head to the Gili Islands and take a picture during sunset to make all your friends jealous!
The Unforgettable Hikes
Without any doubt, the most famous trek in Bali is the one up to Mount Batur. You know it’s worth climbing the active volcano because what else would make so many people from all over the world waking up so early to watch the sunrising?
If you are not a morning person you can always go for a walk at Campuhan Ridge Walk. Not only it’s an easy trail, but it has also an amazing view along the way of the rice fields.
The surfer’s paradise
Bali is well known for having many famous surf spots with perfect surf breaks and line-ups, suitable for dummies or for experts. If you are a newbie and you want to try a surf lesson head to Canggu. If you already have some experience or if you are just crazy, Uluwatu would be your top choice. Now seriously, the waves can be huge and they’re insanely powerful, be sure what you are doing before you get in!
Endless Shopping Opportunities
When coming to Bali you should pack light and leave plenty of space for shopping otherwise you will end up paying for an extra suitcase since it’s impossible to resist such good deals. The shopping scene in Bali extends from gorgeous boutiques to the traditional markets. Don’t forget to practice your barging techniques upon your arrival.
Staying at a treehouse, on the edge of a cliff, on a tented camp, or a luxurious villa… Bali has it all! Infinity pools with endless different views, shapes and sizes. Well, the only thing we can say is good luck to pick just one!
Exotic Islands within a short boat ride
Bali is in a strategic location where you can visit many nearby untouched and beautiful islands. Closed to Nusa Lembogan, Ceningan, Penida and also the Gili islands, where you can find unbelievable cliffs’ views, amazing beaches and some fun parties.
